Where are you based?
Our address is: Gardners Bakery, 85 Harborough Road, Kingsthorpe, Northampton, NN2 7SL.
We have a physical store located at our bakery, Est. 1910, where all of our cakes are made to order.
Open hours: Tuesday-Friday 10am-3pm, Saturday 10am-2pm
How much notice do you need?
We recommend you order as soon as is convenient for yourself. 3-6 months is recommended, however we always try to accommodate last minute requests.
As much notice as possible is best - April to October is peak season and deliveries get booked up quickly.
We take bookings up to 2 years in advance.
Can you help with last minute orders?
We can't make any promises, but we can certainly try our best. We've made wedding cakes with as little as 2 hours notice!
Although designs may be limited, give us a call to see how we can help.

How much are your cakes?
We offer different size ranges to suit every wedding size. Price will depend on your cake size, as well as the level of work and time involved in your finished design.
We price all of our designs in our Wedding Cake Gallery to make it easy for you, but if you would like to design your own cake, get in touch for a quote.
Do you have availability for my date?
We almost always have availability for your date, provided you give enough notice.
We have a team of over 10 at our bakery, all working together to make your cake extra special for your big day.
What gets booked up quickly is our delivery slots, these are very limited and are on a first-come first-serve basis.
What makes them a budget cake?
The difference between our Budget range and our Classic range is the amount of portions. The quality of the sponge & decorations is exactly the same.
There are a few key differences:
Budget range: Feeds up to 60 portions, Designs are limited, Flavours incur additional fees and Delivery is not available (not even for a fee).
Classic range: Feeds 90-150+ portions, More detailed designs, Most flavour options are included, Local delivery is available for some sizes (£).
Do you offer consultations?
If you're planning on popping into store to view some of our designs and discuss your ideas, we'd recommend calling ahead and booking a time slot.
This ensures a member of our team can give you the attention your big day deserves.

What are my flavour options?
All of our cakes are priced as sponge cake, we have a few signature flavours to choose from.
Vanilla, Chocolate, Lemon or Red velvet, mix and match your tiers to give your guests a choice of flavours to pick from.
We can also offer traditional fruit cake, either the bottom tier of your cake or a separate cutting cake.
Different flavours may incur additional fees depending on cake size.
We do offer samples of some cake flavours, available upon request, please give us a call on 01604458555.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
We offer individual cupcakes for guests with the following dietary requirements: Vegan, Vegetarian, Egg free, Nut free, Dairy free, Soya free or Gluten free.
Please note: they are free-from recipes only, we cannot guarantee they will not contain traces of certain ingredients.
Gardners Bakery Ltd accepts no liability for customers suffering allergic reactions from eating our cakes, it is the customers responsibility to make sure we are aware of any special dietary requirements and take note of our free-from only policy.
How do I confirm a booking?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking, this can be paid in store or over the phone. We recommend booking a time slot to ensure our team is free to help you.
The remaining balance is due the week before the wedding (or before).
Can I pay to have my cake delivered?
If you're ordering one of our Budget cakes, this range is for collection only from our Northampton store.
Our cakes come pre-stacked, decorated and do not need refrigerating. Drive slowly & carefully with your cake in the boot of your car.
If you're ordering from our Classic cake range, we offer local delivery on our larger sizes for an additional fee, but these do book up quickly.
Can I view my cake before delivery?
Yes! If we're delivering your cake to your venue, we offer a viewing service to check you're happy with your cake before your wedding day.
This will either be in person, or via a photo to the email you provide us with.
How do I store my cake?
Keep your cake at room temperature, out of direct sunlight, not in a fridge, garage or cold room.
Please remind venues not to leave anywhere damp, too hot/cold or in the fridge.
Make sure the cake is kept flat at all times.
If you have any cake left, keep wrapped up in an airtight container for 3-5 days.
Do you hire cake stands?
Our cakes come on cake boards which can go straight on your table, however if you would like to add a stand:
We always recommend checking with your venue first, as most offer a cake stand with your package.
Please note: We DO NOT recommend placing cakes on thin, pedestal cake stands. These can cause your cake to fall and are not stable.
We do have a wide range of cake stands including gold/silver bases, cupcake stands, round hoops & metal tiered stands available to hire for an additional fee. We ask for a returnable security deposit, which is returned to you after you return the cake stand in its original condition to us within 3 working days of your wedding.
